Believe and Achieve

The way you view your CrossFit journey will either make or break your goals. Do you have a very difficult time sticking to your goals even with the best intentions? Clearing your mind of negative self-talk and being a victim of your own life is what you’ll have to figure out before you can be your very best. Most people start out eager to change, but lose confidence in their own abilities to succeed. Main point – your thoughts are what hold you back from what you truly want.

Having a good attitude and believing you can accomplish something will have a positive impact during every WOD. It’s like there’s a natural human tendency to call it quits when things get uncomfortable and challenging. You start questioning your goals and motives – you think to yourself, “I can’t do this anymore.” That single thought is what causes a lot of us to give up on our CrossFit goals.

Beating yourself up, focusing solely on things you can’t do, viewing CrossFit (or parts of CF such as Burpees or your individual weakness) as a dreaded chore can bring on an array of negative thought patterns that will make achieving your goals really hard. It will be much more beneficial to focus on the things you can do – to feel thankful you can train and exercise, to be proud of every good workout you have and to be the one in control of your decisions and results.

A common destructive mindset is known as the “victim.” These people tend to blame others or external uncontrollable factors for their circumstances – everything is someone else’s fault and don’t believe in taking responsibility for their actions. They have an attitude of “poor me” and look at setbacks or negativity as the liability of someone or something else. We can’t control every situation, but we can choose to take action and actively seek out success.

Instead of thinking that trying to achieve a goal isn’t fair, look at is as an opportunity to take control of your life and outcomes. Free yourself from being a prisoner of someone else’s idea of how you should live a healthy life. Don’t let the opinions of others be a burden and let it go. Soon it will no longer be society’s fault, the fast food restaurants fault, your spouse’s fault or your jobs fault. Appreciate the power and freedom to make your own choices in order to gain control over your goals.

I feel that if you believe in something strong enough that you will find a way to work towards your goals. If you believe enough you won’t let the negativity creep in your mind and distract you. If you believe enough you won’t give up when things get tough. If you believe enough you will achieve your goals!

So in saying all that, I would like to share with you CFRockdale’s theme for the year 2017. It is “Believe and Achieve”. We will use the hash tag #Believe&Achieve or B&A when posting all of our successes on social media.

2017 is the year that we will have confidence in ourselves. We will Believe in ourselves. We Will Achieve Our Goals!

Happy New Year CrossFit Rockdale!
